West Haven Public Library Centennial Edible Book Contest
In conjunction with The International Edible Book Festival, The West Haven Public Library is sponsoring the Centennial Edible Book Contest!
History:
The International Edible Book Festival is held annually around April 1st. April 1st is the birthday of French gastronome Jean-Anthelme Brillat-Savarin (1755-1826), famous for his book Physiologie du gout, a witty meditation on food. The International Edible Book Festival is a creation of Judith A. Hoffberg and Beatrice Coron. Judith got the idea over a Thanksgiving turkey with book artists in 1999, and Beatrice created the Books2Eat website to share all of the edible creations.
Rules:
Everyone is invited to participate - young and old alike; novices to professionals! Show us your creative edible books.
- All edible books must be "bookish" through the integration of text, literary inspiration, or the form. Pick a book - a title, a character, quote, caption, book cover, etc. and let your creativity take over.
- As long as it is "edible", it can be used in your creation.
- Submit your completed Entry form no later than April 8, 2010.
Judging:
April 9 - 10, 2010.
- Judging will take place on Friday, April 9, 2010 at the Dewey Decimal Dinner.
Ribbons will be awarded.
- People's Choice voting will take place on Saturday, April lOth from lOam - 2pm at the Main Library in the Connie Sacco room. Certificates will be awarded.
- Winner need not be present to win.
