The Adult Services Department is responsible for developing
the Adult collection of library materials and assisting patrons
in its use. The department maintains books, magazines,journals,
CDs, books on cassette, art prints, videos, and vertical file
materials.
Our
goal is to provide information to our library users by answering
reference questions, guiding patrons to a good book, magazine,
video or audio CD, and by proving basic instruction in the
use of the library and all its print and electronic resources.
Our
staff members assist patrons in using online public access
and public information computers, copy machines, microfilm,
microfiche machines. The department offers help to patrons
in selecting books to read, and in finding books in the
library.
The
interlibrary loan (ILL) service allows patrons to obtain
materials that are not found in the West Haven library system
from other libraries throughout the state. Materials can
include books, magazines and journals, microfilm, genealogy
records as well as photocopies of articles appearing in
books, magazines and journals.
